5 Themes of Geography: Movement

Movement is all around us and within us. For example, think of the movement of blood and nutrients through the body and the movement of people and resources across bodies of land and water. Think of what happens to the movement of blood when we stand on our heads. Think of what happens to the movement of traffic in a city when traffic lights are broken. Interesting word choice: we use the word “congested” to refer to people with colds as well as locations with heavy traffic. Obviously, movement is a constant part of our lives. What do you think would happen if goods, ideas, or people stopped moving?

If people would stop moving we would probably, well, die. We wouldn't be able to get to our food and water that we need to live on. If goods stopped moving just like above we wouldn't be able to live. We need the goods to come to us or we would only be able to eat one type of food each day. We need ideas to keep moving so we can invent new things to make our lives easier. Also if a new or bad thing happened in Europe we need to find out about it and thats how we find out, by comunnicating to each other.

I agree with what Breanna says because if we stop moving we won't get the goods we want like food or clothing.

I agree with what Breanna says because if people stop moving we would not have the goods such as food, clothing ect. If we don't have those types of things we can't survive.

Movement is completely essential to our lives. We need the movement of air to breathe and live, and the movement of goods to have the correct nutrients. If we only had the kind of food growing in our county or state we would lack greatly in vitamins. If services like the circus and fair didn't travel, we wouldn't die, but we would loose a great deal of our enjoyment in the world. Ideas are essential too. Without moving forward and progressing we wouldn't be living in anything but caves.

If everyone stopped moving, I think that we would have to come up with better technology to help us out. WE would have to depend solely on the goods in Indiana, corn, soybeans, livestock. Many fruits would be taken away from us, having been shipped from Florida, California, etc.

Also, many clothing styles come from New York and Paris. We would not have the same style we are used to. Many tools and games come from China, and we would soon become bored. Katie W.

I think there would be chaos all over the world if goods, ideas and or people stopped moving. If goods were not to move from one place to the other, people would get tired of the same old goods and they would never see new goods or technology. If ideas stopped moving, then the human brain would rot. If people stopped moving then there would be no knowledge of the different cultures that exist in the world.

I disagree with Breanna that people woud die. For every catastrophy humans have adapted and found a solution. I am sure for this situation of non-movement, humans would develop something unique and continue on.

When we move we get somehting we have to get to make things better. Like moving to get goods or to get better paying jobs to help the family out.

Well, i never really thought about the idea of goods moving, but now that i think about it, the whole world system would die if goods stopped moving. There might not be such a big deal at first, but after about a week, things would be terrible. NO food, or shipped water. And Americans most of all get pretty testy when we don't get our food. So basically, a world without moving goods, ISN'T good, at all!
