5 Themes of Geography: Location

The Global Positioning System (GPS) of satellites orbiting the earth have become a very useful tool for many individuals and companies. Take a look at some of the applications of GPS which are being used throughout the world.

Describe one way which GPS is currently being used. Can you think of a NEW or FUTURISTIC use of the GPS satellites? How might these satellites be used in the future? Use your imagination!

    Location, loction, location.
    G.P.S stands for global positioning system. it is used as a digital map. in the future i would like to be able to use a gps to drive you around. That would be awsome.

    Movement
    If things and people stopped moving the world would not go on. It would end because if the plants didn't move there would be no oxygen. It would be horrible!

    Place
    Some places are comfortable and some places aren't.Why, everyone has their own opinion. I think it is the colors, sounds and smells.Every where that I think is comfortable smells nice, has beautiful colors, and it also has serenity.

    GPS could definetely be used as a device to drive cars around while you just sit around and play games or watch DVDs like Joel said.

    GPS is currently being used to help find out where you are by satelites pinpointing your GPS location. In the future I think that we will be able to pinpoint the location of other people and objects.

    One way it is used: in cars for directions.A future use for a GPS is tracking down tape documents just in case someone stole them.

    the gps is being used in cars all over the world for trsveling and to find your location.

    in the future the gps will be able tot tell you were your firnds are in the world.

    I disagree with Joel and Bryce. It is definately a possible idea for the future. Still, don't you think that it would be a waste of our natural resources and promote laziness in our culture if we had that much leisure time? Think about how much time your parents spend driving and locating places.

    GPS is being used in mobile technology. For example, its use in cell phones can locate a person's exact location if that person is in an emergency and called 911.
    GPS technology can be used in theme parks where parents can find out the exact location of their children and relatives. It can also be used to navigate yourself around the park.

    gps is used to navigate around the world. i agree with bryce and joel. while the car usses the gps to drive it's self you can do what ever you want. Trenton brazel

    I agree with Bryce,Trenton,and Joel.I can see scientists making a GPS system that allows you to do whatever you want while the car drives.
